Money
How Dubai became one of the most luxurious cities of the world.
by Kimberly Orozco
Hey there, curious people!
This time I’m bringing you a blog entry about the money in Dubai.
When we think of Dubai we usually think of luxury, money and oil,
also people wearing hijab, right?
Here some general facts about Dubai:
Is a city located in The Emirate of Dubai (yes, it has the same name).
This emirate is the second largest (4114 km²) of the seven United Arab Emirates (UAE),
but has the largest population (over 3.33 million inhabitants, 2019).In the beginning UAE, as a British colony, was a penniless territory
in the middle of the desert. Now Dubai is the second wealthiest of the seven UAE.
Imagine that, there is another one richer!
The economy in Dubai:
All the luxury Dubai shows is possible by the wealth the nation has found in oil
after independence. With all that revenue, Dubai allocated it towards infrastructure, schools, ports and
streets, what has been increasing the profits. As a nation, they have a robust plan in place to transition its economy
when the oil runs dry. With all these huge investments, Dubai imports workers until this day
and will continue doing it, due the tiny local population.
Shopping in Dubai:
Dubai is known as the “Shopping Capital of the Middle East”.
In fact, Dubai has been hosting the annual “Dubai Shopping Festival”.You can find heavy discounts on jewelry, electronics, gold and also raffles.
Imagine that, as cheery as a standard carnival, but all luxury.
Finally, I think Dubai’s wealth is well invested as a desert country,
and the luxury is attractive for tourists.
Maybe you wouldn’t buy a Lamborghini, but you can find a nice ring
or electronics in a reasonable price.
Here a video with non-so-cheerful news from the current economy situation in Dubai.
